| Construction of Industry Infrastructure
Project |
| Ensuring
Stable Supply and Demand for Materials and Equipment
|
| JFPI, as a representative
of the printing industry, tries to understand issues such as paper recycling
that affect society as a whole, in addition to forming estimates for
paper demand. The federation examines such issues by various means,
including visits to plant facilities. In addition, the federation monitors
shipment trends for printing-related materials and equipments, including
paper, ink, and film. The federation releases this information to interested
parties.
|
| Cultivating Human and Technological Resources
|
| The federation examines
issues such as human resource development and training methods for the
printing industry. In addition, JFPI monitors the latest techno-logical
trends by making trips to printing and other facilities, which help
to establish and promote research investigations (including promoting
technological advancement and information systems) and theme selection.
Furthermore, JFPI works to make printing terminology conform to usage
approved by Japan Industrial Standards (JIS) and international standards. |
| Environmental Protection and Improved Safety and Sanitation
|
| Since environmental
protection has been promoted on a global scale, JFPI is also determined
to promote environmental protection as one of the representatives of
Japan. The federation looks into ways of complying with Japanユs environmental
regulations including the Basic Environment Law, the Air Pollution Control
Act, the PRTR Act, regulations on organic solvents, as well as laws
governing energy conservation, waste disposal, and recycling of containers
and packages. JFPI works to provide information and educate the industry. |
| Promoting International Exchange
|
| JFPI participates
in the World Print Congress (WPC)ミan event jointly sponsored by printing
groups from some ten different countries to represent Japanユs printing
industry. In addition, the federation holds an international symposium
at the Printing Culture Festival and sponsors lectures and presentations
by speakers from Japan and abroad. Also, the federation aims to promote
exchange with foreign printing-industry groups such as the Printing
Industry Association (PIA) of the U.S.A. |
| Responding to Intellectual Property Issues
|
| As the information
age progresses, various intellectual property issues become magnified.
This federation as well is responding to and studying intellectual property
issues such as legal protection of databases, protecting rights on partially
completed products, and copyright collective management systems. JFPI
sends committee members to various organizations to articulate the views
of the printing industry. |
| Responding to Various Governmental Issues
|
| JFPI speaks for the
printing industry by presenting requests and writing petitions and briefs
on matters such as tax system reform, easing of regulations, intellectual-property
issues as they pertain to multimedia, and the surplus of used paper.
JFPI also supports its member companies by properly responding to the
enactment of the amended Small and Medium Enterprise Basic Law and the
Law for Intensifying Management in Small and Medium Enterprises. |
| Screening・Recognition System
|
| To accommodate advancement
of informatization and environmental protection which tightens regulations,
Private Mark screening center and Green Printing recognition division
operate proactively. |
| Upgrading Technology and Promoting Digitization
|
| Along with responses
to environmental issues, upgrading technology and enhancing information
systems are to be the printing industryユs major issues of the future.
Therefore, JFPI promotes investigation projects through its research
investigation committee every year. To date, studies have been conducted
on more than a hundred issues since the founding of the federation.
The studies are prized by printing and affiliated industries. |
| Publication and Education-oriented Enterprises |
| Publication and Education-oriented Activities in the Printing Industry
|
| To promote the printing
industry as an information service industry to those in Japan and overseas,
JFPI celebrates Printing Month each September and holds the Printing
Culture Festival every four years. During Printing Month, JFPI presents
lectures and awards for meritorious service to the industry. In conjunction
with the Printing Culture Festival, printing exhibitions displaying
a wide array of printed matters are held to promote the industry. In
addition to our Web site, which we use to disseminate information to
the general public, we also publish periodicals such as JFPI Report
and Printopia Report. |
| Sponsorship
of Competitions
|
| Each year, in order
to improve the technology and culture of the printing industry and to
provide the industry with public relations exposure, the federation
sponsors competitions in printed materials integral to our society.
These include books (Japan Book Design Exhibition), calendars (All Japan
Calendar Competition), catalogues and posters (All Japan Catalogue &
Poster Fair), and packaging (Japan Packaging Competition). |
